I've been wanting to do this - to have gastric bypass surgery - for a long time now. But now that its finally going to happen, its scary. The insurance company has approved everything, and all of my presurgery tests were today. Chest x-ray and barium swallow at 10 AM, echocardiagram and EKG and blood tests at noon, fitness consultation at 1 and nutrition consultation (how to eat before and after surgery) at 2:30. The last thing left is a psych eval and it is scheduled for next Monday (the 16th). Then my last visit with the surgeon is scheduled for January 24th. The nutritionist said I should start the presurgery diet on the 22nd. I should be on it for at least 2 but no longer than 3 weeks, so the current target surgery date is February 6. When they are done, my stomach will be about the size of an aspirin bottle. I'm nervous about the whole thing, but I'm ready to get it over with at the same time. The presurgery diet starts in 12 days. I have this desire to eat everything I want and all of my favorite foods, knowing that I won't be able to eat many of them anymore, or only in very small amounts. I am planning a night out at my favorite restaurant where I intend to eat my favorite dish (bean and cheese stuffed sopapilla with sour cream tomatillo sauce) and then have my favorite kind of cake (Italian creme, no nuts) from one of the best bakeries in town!

Current weight - about 410 (they didn't weigh me today with all of the rest of the tests)
mood: nervous nervous
music: No music - Octopussy on TV in the background
